Zur Autorin
Ratih Kumala wurde 1980 in Jakarta geboren. Sie arbeitet als freiberufliche Drehbuchautorin fürs Fernsehen und hat bisher bereits einige Romane veröffentlicht, unter anderem Tabula Rasa (2004), Genesis (2005) und Kronik Betawi (2009) sowie den Kurzgeschichtenband Larutan Senja (2006). Gadis Kretek (2012) ist ihr fünfter Roman und greift ihren eigenen kulturellen (javanischen) Hintergrund auf.
